Rock House

Silversmith studio, Petworth, West Sussex

In this project we explored the interpretation of a rural vernacular. The simple, two-storey building in rural West Sussex, provides a new studio and study spaces for a silversmith and enameller, adjacent to their existing house.

The building is intersected by an old stone wall, which extends to create two new courtyard spaces between the new and old buildings. The studio is clad in rough-sawn green oak horizontal boards, set into a grid of panels.
